Private English Lessons for Adults in Lake Como & Online

Hi, I'm Rose García-Bretón, a CELTA-qualified English teacher. I was born in London, grew up in Wiltshire and later lived in Devon. My mother is English and my father is Spanish, and I now live by Lake Como in Italy.

I help adults and professionals, especially Spanish and Italian speakers, communicate in English with greater confidence and more naturally, both in everyday and professional situations. I also have specific training in Business English.

My connection with languages goes far beyond the classroom. I spent time living in Spain with my father's family, I speak Spanish at an intermediate level, and I am currently learning Italian. This means I understand first-hand what it feels like to express yourself in another language when you know what you want to say but cannot always find the right words. I am also very familiar with some of the difficulties that Spanish and Italian speakers repeatedly encounter in English: prepositions, phrasal verbs, pronunciation, false friends and structures transferred directly from their native language. This experience helps me anticipate common difficulties and adapt my teaching accordingly, while keeping my lessons entirely in English.
